Who is Nerus Records?

Nerus Records is an independent record company, which features artists from many styles and genres of music. While Nerus Records does manufacture and promote CDs from new or established artists, we have decided to increase our catalog and provide a much needed service to small independent labels.

What's the problem?

In order for a small label to make its products "retail ready", it has to include a GS1 approved bar code (see our faq page.) Some CD manufacturers offer to give a free bar code if you place a large enough order, but these manufacturers are in violation of their agreement with GS1 (the organization that controls bar codes) and may face revocation of their bar code at some point in the future. This will effectively make their codes worthless.

Nerus Records is abiding by the strict terms of the GS1 agreement, and is not selling the bar codes themselves. Instead, we are charging a minimal fee to be added to our catalog. We must then provide you with a bar code as a part of our catalog, and will register your finished product with Soundscan.

You will be able to save the hefty fee required to get your own bar code, and will have all the advantages that a legitimate bar code can bring:

Nerus Records does not require you to give up any rights connected with your work. You agree to a non-exclusive distribution contract, and may sell your CD through any channel you feel is best. Nerus Records does not receive any portion of your sales or profits, and you can cancel your agreement at any time. There are no further charges after your initial payment, and our fees are extremely reasonable.
